Hi world, it’s me, Eleanor. I’m studying abroad in Copenhagen at the Danish Institute of Study Abroad in the fall of 2013 and I couldn’t be more excited. I’m starting this blog (baby’s first blog!) to keep an account of my thrills and spills of my trip.
To give a little background about me, I’m a junior print journalism major and creative writing minor at American University in Washington D.C. Originally, I’m from a small town in central Massachusetts. At DIS, I’m doing the Strategic Communications core course and living with a host family.
I want to clarify that I’m not like all the other students out there. Certainly some of them. Though I see this study experience as a chance to experience Copenhagen and Europe, that’s not my only goal. My grades transfer directly, so doing well in class is important to me. I value down time and will not be treating this like a big chance to go partying every night. I’m not afraid of exploring by myself, and will spend most evenings and Sundays doing homework. That’s just how I am.
Things that may come up over the course of me writing and you reading this blog: I have never been out of the U.S. before. This trip is a big first for me. I am a huge klutz. I’m prone to falling, tripping, and overall not being super aware. This can be embarrassing, but it makes for funny stories. I love food. I’m vegetarian, but I’ll eat anything besides meat. And I’m so looking forward to my semester in Copenhagen!
